Barangay Eight Livelihood Association (BELA)
Nestled in the most populous barangay in the Poblacion area where CTU-ATBI is located, Barangay Eight Livelihood Association (BELA) thrives in the production of healthy popular bread and pastry products. Originally, the business was a receipient of an extension technology transfer activity from CTU-Tuburan – squash crackers, and then squash binangkal, a popular Cebuano traditional snack. A few months of operations led to the production of several more bread products.
Squash crackers become a favorite snack not just by the locals but even those from other places who have tasted the product. The business has a store outlet just within the compound of the Barangay government center, and also sells online through their social media account. The LGU regularly includes BELA products in their token packages given to guests and other important visitors. In 2024, they expanded their operations by opening a food stall in one of the populous schools in the municipality. This proves the success of the squash crackers and the business itself.
