CTU Joins as Judge in the 2025 DOST-SEI Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program Demo Day, Supporting Young Innovators Through Incubation

Cebu City, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) successfully staged the much-anticipated Demo Day of the 2025 Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program (STTP) on August 29, 2025, at Marco Polo Hotel, Cebu City.

The event gathered young innovators from across Region VII, culminating weeks of intensive training and mentorship under the STTP. With the preliminaries completed, Demo Day served as the scholars’ platform to pitch their bold, research-driven business ideas before a panel of evaluators and stakeholders in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Representing Cebu Technological University (CTU) were Engr. Naomi A. Bajao, Dr. Mario P. Rebucas, and Prof. Marlou C. Godinez from the Regional ATBI and IPTBM unit, who served as one of the members of the judging panel. Their participation highlighted CTU’s active role in advancing technopreneurship and supporting the region’s growing innovation ecosystem.

Three outstanding innovations earned the Cebu Tech Trailblazer Award, namely: Sipnayan, PestEcho,and Swine Sight.

As the leading incubator in Central Visayas, CTU committed to providing the awardees with a one-year incubation program. This program will further guide the young technopreneurs in refining their technologies, scaling their startups, and bridging the gap between research and market readiness.

The STTP Demo Day not only showcased the creativity and resilience of the scholars but also reaffirmed the role of academic institutions like CTU in nurturing the next wave of innovators who can drive sustainable development and technological advancement in the region.
